Professional Fortnite player and YouTuber SerpentAU has been implicated in multiple fraudulent schemes involving the launch of fake meme coins, totaling $3.5 million. Blockchain researcher ZachXBT revealed these findings, shedding light on SerpentAU’s involvement in a series of account hacks targeting major brands and celebrities on social media.
According to on-chain detective work, SerpentAU used hacked profiles to promote fraudulent crypto assets, with victims including McDonald’s, Wiz Khalifa, and Usher over the past few months. The funds from the sale of these fake tokens flowed through cryptocurrency wallets controlled by SerpentAU.
ZachXBT also found that the Australian gamer placed million-dollar bets on gambling platforms, broadcasting the process to friends. During one of these streams, SerpentAU inadvertently revealed several wallet addresses linked to the fraudulent tokens.
Previously, in 2020, SerpentAU faced consequences for using banned scripts in Fortnite matches, resulting in his expulsion from an esports team and a subsequent ban from the game. In 2022, he diversified his career by launching an NFT project called DAPE, which was later identified as a rug pull. Two years later, he launched another project, ERROR, which met a similar fate.
After the initial findings were published, SerpentAU began deleting his social media posts. ZachXBT suspects that he is attempting to cover his tracks and warns that the list of victims may continue to grow. The investigator has forwarded details of the case to one of the affected parties.
