In his most recent surprise announcement, former president donald trump has now proposed a new agency (the department of government efficiency or doge), to help tackle the over-reaching issues with excessive government expenditure and stupid red-tape. Making this highly ambitious project happen is the CEO of x, elon musk himself alongside vivek ramaswamy — a former presidential candidate that recently withdraw from the race and is still a trump supporter.

Note that the news has not sparked much enthusiasm in cryptocurrency circles, especially dogecoin itself, which has shown little to respond to this statement. Incredibly, another character within this story—peanut the squirrel—has seen a stunning 108% pump after musk’s post on x showing that in mem- and memecoin land the market doesn’t always react rationally.

Musk’s primary responsibilities will include: under the executive order issued by Trump:

  • Streamlining back-office procedures
  • That’s to scale back on unnecessary rules and regulations.
  • Cutting government spending.
  • Reorganizing government departments to make them more effective.

This concept of establishing a dedicated department for government efficiency was initially floated during Trump’s campaign and has now taken shape following his electoral victory. Musk’s mention of DOGE in previous discussions has also contributed to fluctuations in its value, indicating the profound impact his words can have on the crypto landscape.

Adding another layer of intrigue, a post on TruthSocial revealed that DOGE will function independently from the existing power structures in Washington. However, many questions remain unanswered: How will this department be funded? What specific roles will its employees fulfill? What will its organizational structure look like? As of now, these details are shrouded in uncertainty.

In addition, the resolution also provides that DOGE must deliver intermediate results by July 4, 2026. This timeline is important; it coincides with a streamlined, government apparatus intended to be “a gift” leaving the government they created out of the hands of bureaucrats in time for our 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. These are some ambitious goals for an Initiative that in many ways reads like a practical exercise in political strategy, but also economic reform—one which is sure to reshape the nature of government for years down the road.

The story develops, so too do the machinations of Musk and his compatriots in governing what might be an internationally regulated society needing very efficient systems of government.
